| Welcome to the website for the Surrey Hockey Association (SHA), the umbrella organisation that organises, runs and provides developmental opportunities within the county. Surrey HA is pleased to announce the appointment of two hockey development officers (HDOs) for the County. Stacy Main will support the East of the County, inside the M25 and below the A3. Stacy currently plays for Holcombe and coaches at Sutton High School for Girls as well as at Surrey JDCs and JACs. Haylie Saunders will cover the West of the County, outside the M25 and above the A3. Haylie stays in Woking during the week where she is Director of Studies at Halstead School, but then escapes to Dorset at the weekend where she has previously coached County teams. Both our HDOs are level 2 coaches who will be helping to support and promote hockey in schools and clubs. Their activities will predominantly focus on school years 5-8, introducing hockey to primary schools and organising mini-festivals including the existing schools and club mini championships. If your school needs any help or advice with organising hockey for children in these age groups, please contact Stacy or Haylie. It is with great sadness that we report the death on 05 January of Nick Chilton. He will be known to many of us as a tireless worker for sport and hockey in particular. A leader of Haslemere Hockey club he was a current member of Hampshire, the South and England Hockey Boards of Management. His selfless dedication to the game was endless and many of our members will have benefitted from his work, his wisdom and his friendship. There was a Service of Thanksgiving for Nick on 18 January at St Lukes Church, Headley Road, Grayshott, GU26 6LF.

The implementation date has slipped from 01 Jan 2012 and changed from a mandation to a recommendation. Full background on EHB website.
