Discipline
The county’s rules require that both the England Hockey and Southern Counties’ HA Disciplinary Codes to be applied to all hocke

y.
The County Disciplinary officer is
John Mills (01737 244223) who will adjudicate on all Red Card and Match Day Misconduct Offences (MMOs). All Red Cards and MMOs issued by an umpire who is not appointed by an umpires’ association must be reported to the Disciplinary Officer within 48 hours on the relevant form. Forms and regulation guidelines relating to Red Cards and MMOs are available on the
Equity, Ethics & Discipline section of the England Hockey Board website.
Umpires who have been appointed by an umpires’ association should submit the form as directed by their association who will then forward to the Disciplinary Officer.
All penalties resulting from a Red Card are immediate any player who has received a Red Card may not resume playing until any term of suspension has been completed. There will be an automatic minimum suspension of 16 days - though different offences carry longer penalties. Penalties may be suspended during non-playing periods including at Christmas and over the summer.
An MMO is a Matchday Misconduct Offence. An umpire can award it on any time on the day of a match. To be considered as an MMO the offence should warrant a Red Card if it occurred on the field of play during the game. The most common type of MMO is for verbal abuse of the umpire after the match. The offence causing the MMO can occur at any location and is not restricted to the pitch and clubhouse - it just has to occur on the day of the match.
